Film-portrait of the artist Askhat Akhmedyarov, directed by Evgeny Lumpov

A short film-portrait of Askhat Akhmedyarov reconstructs several of the iconic works and performances of the artist created over the past decade.  The film blurs the line between documentary and feature films, revealing the portrait through immersion in the surreal world of the artist. The film received a prize from the Kazakhstan Union of Cinematographers at the Republican Film Festival KazNUI and was also presented in several cities of India as part of the 13th Indian International Film Festival.

The author of the film is the documentary director Evgeny Lumpov:

«My team and I really wanted our work to reflect the versatility of the artist, so we shot such a non-standard documentary, combining the techniques of feature and documentary films, using a variety of methods to create a special reality for the artist.  We wanted the viewer to not only see the paintings or performances of Askhat but also be able to plunge into the special world of his work. This world has become our biggest creative task».
